As we countdown to Game One of the World Series tonight, I can’t help but notice how much the San Francisco Giants remind me of another NL team: The New York Mets.
For anyone still reading, I’m serious, just follow me for a minute. When you look at the Detroit Tigers you see a powerhouse of stars; the best pitcher in the game, a triple crown winner and a larger than life “Prince” of a clean-up hitter. If the Mets want to try and build something like that they’re going to need a decade, a Government bailout and probably some new owners. But, when you look over at the Giants, you see a team built on great pitching and balance, a recipe that the Mets are very close to cooking up themselves.
During last night's Mets-Brewers game, Mets manager Terry Collins pulled David Wright out of the game after teammate DJ Carrasco hit Brewers slugger Ryan Braun with a pitch. Do you think Terry Collins made the right decision or did he make a cowardly decision?
Now this is a great debate topic. Did Mets manager Terry Collins make the right move by removing David Wright from last nights loss to the Milwaukee Brewers?
Here is the setup. Brewers take a 8-0 lead in the 7th inning after hack relief pitcher DJ Carrasco of the Mets drilled Ryan Braun after Rickie Weeks of Milwaukee cracked a homerun off of Carrasco to make the score 8-0
At various, likely random intervals throughout the season, I will be updating the New York Mets 2012 Hope-O-Meter. This meter, which has a standard 0-10 scale, will represent the optimism of the Mets faithful that the season won’t be a huge embarrassing failure. Well, after a somewhat impressive 1-0 win over the Atlanta Braves, the official Hope-O-Meter reading is a stellar 7.25.
