Siena & UAlbany Men’s Lacrosse Come Up Short

As the end of last week made the turn into the weekend, both UAlbany and Siena were in prime positions to earn berths in the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament. The Great Danes dominated UMBC on Wednesday with a 19-8 blowout victory, setting up a contest at Stony Brook for the America East Title. And on the other hand, the Saints won an 11-9 slugfest against Marist and advanced to their fourth consecutive MAAC Championship Game. But within twenty-four hours, all of those “high hopes” turned into sheer disappointment.

Siena Men’s Lacrosse Captures Major MAAC Awards

Following another dominant regular season, Siena Lacrosse was recognized for their accomplishments in a big way Thursday night at the annual MAAC Awards Banquet in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. First-year head coach John Svec was named the Anaconda Sports MAAC Coach of the Year, while Bryan Neufeld earned MAAC Offensive Player of the Year and Tom Morr was tabbed the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year.

Siena Basketball Earns All-MAAC Honors

On Thursday, both Siena Basketball teams have a chance to boast the MAAC Player of the Year. Junior forwards OD Anosike of the men's team and Lily Grenci of the women's team have been named to the All-MAAC First Teams and are eligible to named the MAAC Player of the Year. Additionally, men's freshman Evan Hymes was selected to the All-Rookie Team, while Cristina Centeno earned Third Team honors on the women's side.
