Over the last few years, while I find both to be highly entertaining, I have still found myself drawn in more by the NHL Stanley Cup Playoff than the NBA Playoffs. Call me a pugilist or whatever you want, there's just something about the raw intensity that gets turned up a few notches when the NHL regular season concludes and the chase for Lord Stanley's Cup begins. A series that was destined to go seven games didn't but it was ok, because the series already had multiple overtime games including a three-overtime thriller and a wild Game 6 that saw the Blackhawks tally two late third period goals in 17 seconds in Boston for the victory.  A Stanley Cup hasn't ever been won in that fashion.  And so, the Chicago Blackhawks are 2013 Stanley Cup champs.

The Heat, Spurs, Bruins and Blackhawks are all vying for titles.  All have been impressive in their own way.  The Bruins battled back from a three-overtime loss in Game 1 to win in OT in Game 2.  The Spurs are one win from clinching the NBA title after two wins at home in the middle of the NBA Finals...

The Bruins and Blackhawks, two Original 6 teams, meet for the right to raise Lord Stanley.  Boston is 9-1 in the postseason since toppling Toronto in overtime of Game 7 in the opening round.  Chicago is 7-1 since being down 3-1 to rival Detroit and beat last year's Cup champion Kings in the Western Conference Finals...

Those pesky, battling, deep and teamwork-oriented Boston Bruins finished off the sweep of the Pittsburgh Penguins, taking Game 4 1-0.  And now it is on to the Stanley Cup Finals.

The 2011 Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup because of three reasons.  One, Tim Thomas in goal.  Two, depth.  Three, effort.  It is that last one that has been increased in 2013, somehow, some way, by these current Bruins.
