College Football Season Opens With UAlbany Win, Union Loss
As the RPI football team sat idle this past weekend, the College Football season got underway across the country, including a pair of games here in the Capital Region. The final results from both games were on different ends of the spectrum, as Union suffered a tough 17-14 loss to Salve Regina, while UAlbany opened their final season at University Field with a 41-20 victory over Colgate.

Earlier today, and just four days before their 2012 season opener against Colgate, UAlbany announced that the Great Danes' offensive coordinator Ryan McCarthy has been promoted to associate head football coach. McCarthy is in his 11th season with the UAlbany football program and fifth as offensive coordinator.

UAlbany men’s lacrosse players Ty, Miles and Lyle Thompson, along with former standout Mike Banks, are all making appearances in “Crooked Arrows,” Hollywood’s first feature film about the sport of lacrosse. The movie, produced by J. Todd Harris, Mitchell Peck and Adam Leff, is set to open this Friday, May 18, with showings locally at Crossgates Cinema.
