The 2 college drafts fans care about most, the NFL and NBA drafts, help teams stock pile talent. That's the obvious. What is strange is how after being drafted, getting players names on contracts are so different.

The New York Giants announce they have signed their 1st round draft pick, offensive lineman Justin Pugh from Syracuse University.

The Giants hope that Pugh will compete well for the starters job at right tackle. The signing leaves only Pugh's team mate, QB Ryan Nassib, taken in the 4th round as unsigned. The signing comes 1 day before the G Men hit training camp.

The odd thing is how new NBA players are signed so quickly, while NFL players often hold out or at best seem to agree to contract terms so late, especially with the "slotting" that takes place in signing deals.

No terms on the deal were announced. The Giants hope the versatile Pugh will challenge long time right tackle David Diehl for the starting spot.
