UAlbany Women Tabbed 14th in Mid-Major Poll

After four consecutive trips to the NCAA tournament and nearly upsetting Duke on their home floor in the tournament a season ago, the UAlbany women's basketball team is continuing to receive national recognition.

The Great Danes have been tabbed at No. 14 in the Preseason Mid-Major poll.

The Danes, picked to finish first in the America East this year, are the highest A-East team in the poll (Maine, No. 23) and are the only mid-major team from New York included.

The Danes finished last year ranked No. 14 in the poll as well.

Loaded with tournament experience, this seems like a good spot for UAlbany preseason. The Danes continue to challenge themselves out of the conference and will play at Tennessee on Nov. 27.

UAlbany returns superstar Shereesha Richards, who has been named league Player of the Year for the past two seasons. The Danes will also rely on Imani Tate this year on the perimeter.

The Danes open up their season on Nov. 15 against Pepperdine at SEFCU Arena.
