Before heading off to London to compete in the upcoming Olympics, tennis star Venus Willaims was in the Albany area to compete for her world team tennis club Saturday night at  Hudson Valley Community College. Venus helps make up the roster of the Washington Kastles. They took on the New York Sportimes and trying to extend their 24 match winning streak.

Williams defeated Martina Hingis 5-1,including a victory in the final game to force OT with the Kastles up 20-18.

Williams triumphed in the 1st game vs Hingis then rallied from an 0-3 deficit in game 2 to force a 13 point Super Tiebraker to decide the match. Williams blanked Hingis and Venus won 7-0. Washington went on to win 21-20 and ran their unbeaten mark to 25.

After the victory Williams commented " It's all about team in World team Tennis. It was great to have my whole team behind me in the last match. Williams also praised the local crowd saying " No one left in the crowd and the crowd was into it. It was amazing"

Williams work  At HVCC wasn't finished as she will sub for her sister Serena in Sunday action. After the team matches Venus will leave for the Olympic games which begin on Friday in the British capital.
