A Sweet Opening Day For New Bakery in Mechanicville Today

It is a dream come true for Stacie Blair and her new bakery opening in Mechanicville today. There has been a lot of sweat and hard work for the sweet opening to happen this morning. But The Sugar Fairy Bakes brand new bakery will be open for business from 7 am until 3 pm starting today.

Where is The Sugar Fairy Bakes location?

Once upon a time, there was a golf cart business that occupied the building on Park Ave and Central Ave in Mechanicville. Recently it was home to Golden Krust Bakery. Gold Krust shut its doors during the pandemic and the place sat empty. That was until Stacie Blair took some fairy dust and magically made her dream a reality.

Who is Stacie Blair?

Stacie Blair was a transplant to Mechanicville. When she was in her twenties her mom moved there and in 2007, her husband and their two children followed. She always loved to bake and would do it often with her paralyzed grandmother growing up. She said she always wanted to be a baker but didn't seem it would be possible until 2019 when she took a chance.

Moving into New Location is a Dream Becoming Reality

Stacie said that she knew Jay who owned Golden Krust Bakery and the location in Mechanicville. She had spoken to him in late September about taking over the bakery. When the opportunity presented itself, shortly after they closed, Stacie knew it was the right time. She secured a small business loan and leased the prime property on the corner of Park Avenue and Central Avenue in Mechanicville.

What to Expect at The Sugar Fairy Bakes

They have remodeled the interior and made it their signature bright blue. They spend endless hours making it their own. They open today (December 15th) at 7 am. It is a soft opening but the bakery should be running in full by January. They will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 7 am until 3 pm. They feature a wide variety of sweet treats including cookies, cakes, cupcakes, pies, homemade pop tarts, bread, bagels, brownies, pastries, and more.
