Most of these have been lifted or will expire by the end of the day Tuesday. We were lucky that Sandy wasn't as bad as it could have been! 

Here's the current list of what counties, cities, and states have declared a state of emergency related to Sandy. We will update the list as more emergencies are declared.

State of New York:

Governor Cuomo has declared a state of emergency in the state

 

Albany County:

City of Albany: effective immediately for the entire city. If you need to report a storm related incident such as flooding, trees down, etc call 518-434-4522

City of Cohoes: Residents are asked to secure items in their yards and check nearby sewer drains to make sure they are free of obstructions. Cohoes police and fire are ready to respond and are asking residents to make sure they are prepared for the storm.

Village of Green Island: Mayor McNulty-Ryan has declared an emergency in the Village of Green Island starting at 3PM on 10/29 and lasting through 12N on 10/30.

Dutchess County:

Town of Fishkill: started at 10AM 10/29. All non-essential vehicle travel is encouraged to stay off the roads to keep them clear for first responders and utility workers.

Greene County:

The entire county has declared an emergency beginning at 5PM 10/29 and will remain in effect TFN. No unnecessary travel allowed.

Montgomery County:

The entire county has declared a state of emergency and also has a mandatory travel advisory - no unnecessary travel is allowed or approved in the entire county.

Schenectady County:

The entire county has declared a state of emergency. Use caution if venturing outside.

City of Schenectady: The city has declared a state of emergency effective immediately.

State of Massachusetts:

Governor Patrick declared the entire state in a state of emergency

Berkshire County:

Town of Adams: State of emergency began at 12N on 10/29 and residents are urged to stay inside at all times

State of Vermont:

Governor Shumlin has declared a state of emergency for the entire state. The National Guard is on standby if they are needed.
