Albany Empire Season Opener Will Have Star NFL Player in Attendance
One of the greatest players Arena Football League history is Touchdown Eddie Brown. If you were an Albany Firebirds fan, that name alone brings back great, crowd-roaring, pyrotechnic memories. All football fans in the Capital Region, new and old, will get to relive some of those good times and create new memories on April 14th, the opener for the inaugural season of the Albany Empire.
That's when Touchdown Eddie Brown will have his number retired at the Times Union Center as the Empire gets set to take on the defending Arena Bowl champion Philadelphia Soul. As exciting as that is, I know, I hear you, it's old news. Here's the latest big news related to Eddie's big night.
According to our Rodger Wyland, making the trip to see his father's number raised to the rafters will be Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown. Yes, the all-pro, highest-paid wideout in the NFL will be in the Capital Region to take it all in. Talk about a power couple. Father and son. One, perhaps the most electrifying player in AFL history and the other, considered by many to be the most dangerous man in the NFL's open field.
