Amazon is taking the rideshare concept and applying it to shipping packages.

If there is one thing Amazon always excels at, it is innovating their business and finding new ways to get the products they sell to customers. As the online retailer grows and grows, they are always adding new wrinkles to not only the customer experience, but how they get goods from point A to point B.

Even though it was short-lived here in the Capital Region, the Amazon store that was in Crossgates Mall is a great example of this. Now the online giant is creating a rideshare style model in the Capital Region like Uber and Lyft to get packages to customers.

According to Spotlight News, the Amazon "Delivery Station" will be the last stop for packages to be picked up by Amazon Flex drivers who use their own vehicles to deliver packages. It is kind of like ridesharing, but for Amazon stuff where folks make deliveries to make extra cash.

Spotlight News says the Colonie Planning Board has given its blessing for the new Amazon facility to be developed at the old Precision Valve Automation location on Mustang Drive off Route 9. Amazin Van drivers will also be operating out of the new facility. Amazon, which had initially proposed this facility at a location off Central Avenue, operates a similar delivery station in Amsterdam.

If ridesharing is your thing when it comes to making an extra few bucks, this has to be a similar great option to bring in extra cash, And you you wouldn't have to deal with any potentially cranky passengers!
