Siena fans should not panic, the Saints will be fine when MAAC Conference play rolls around. It’s been a rough 0-3 start to the season because of the lopsided loses, but it will get better. Siena will find other players who can score other than Jackson Stormo and Colby Rogers. Let’s not forget head coach Carmen Maciariello has 9 new players on his roster and it takes time to figure out the chemistry. There is plenty of talent, but the schedule has been brutal and will only get tougher Friday at Georgetown. Non-Conference games are designed for coaches to figure out their team before conference play begins, and coach Carm has a few more game for that to happen.

There could be some more help on the way for Coach Carm's team as former Guilderland basketball player and North Carolina Tar Heel Andrew Platek is close to being approved by the NCAA to play for Siena. Coach Carm told us on Big Board Sports that Platek had lost the love for the game so he did not enter the transfer portal after his final season at North Carolina. Platek did play in the Summer League as well but now has rediscovered his passion for the game and wants to contribute to the Saints. And it makes all the sense in the world especially after what we saw Elijah Burns do in his 1 year playing in Albany. The one concern would be how he comes in the fold with his new team but since he is already practicing with the team, I think it will work out just fine. Stay tuned to 104.5 the Team for updates on when Platek is officially approved to join the Saints. You can also listen to our interview conversation with Coach Carm above.
