Big Merger as Local Catholic High School Becoming K-12 in 2022

In a major announcement that educators are calling the future of Catholic schools in the Capital Region, there will be a merger that will make one school kindergarten through twelfth grade.

What School is Merging with Catholic High?

The St. Ambrose campus will become Catholic Central High School housing kindergarten through twelfth grade. The nineteen-acre campus will be one convenient, central location. The plan is to open the new Catholic Central School in September of 2022.

How Long has Catholic Central High School Been in Troy?

Catholic Central High School was established in 1923 and was always located in Troy. It served as a school for those in Troy, Green Island, and Watervliet. In 1953 it moved to North Troy but has been a staple in that community for decades. It will now be moving to Latham as it merges with St. Ambrose school which is a kindergarten through sixth-grade school.

How is This Merger Being Received in the Capital Region?

According to the Catholic Central High School Facebook page, the majority of the comments are positive. A lot of alumni say it's the right move. Many also site the new Latham campus will be much safer than the current North Troy location. Another post on the Facebook page from Abigail Huls Ayotte reads:

Change can be scary and bumpy but necessary for the future of our school. The new Catholic Central School will start in its new location in Latham in the fall of 2022.
