Buffalo Bills May Be The Hottest Ticket In Europe
As the NFL continues to spread its brand across the world, the regular season games played on the other side of the Atlantic have skyrocketed in popularity. In January the league announced that the Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots will each play international games during the 2023 regular season.
Right now, it appears that Josh Allen is more popular than Trevor Lawrence and, even Super Bowl MVP, Patrick Mahomes. In fact, it appears that the Bills have been setting records across the pond.
At the NFL owners meetings on Monday, Buffalo Bills Executive Vice President & CEO Ron Raccuia told syracuse.com that "he received a report that the Bills’ matchup is “the highest pre-selling game in international series history, with probably the exception of the Tom Brady game in Germany.” Ticket sales are pretty strong indicators of popularity.
Though the Buffalo Bills did not make it to the Super Bowl, the team is full of NFL stars, including Allen, Stefon Diggs and Von Miller. That helps when selling tickets in a country that does not have an NFL team. Last season, with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers playing the Seattle Seahawks in Germany, 770,000 thousand fans swarmed to purchase the 77,000 available tickets. The Bills rush has been a bit slower but still very satisfying for the Buffalo organization, especially since Bills fans may be getting a design preview of their next home.
"We are proud to be selected to participate in our league's international games in 2023 and continue to help grow our sport globally," Raccuia told nfl.com in January. "The NFL has done an incredible job with this initiative. We're excited for Bills Mafia to experience Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, one of the primary design inspirations for our new stadium scheduled to open in 2026." If you are planning on hopping the pond to catch the Bills, you had better scoop up your tickets fast!
