Joe Girardi is doing his best mad scientist impersonation as he makes Chase Whitley his 6th starting pitcher. Not due to injury or suspension but because the Yankees play 30 out of 31 days in this stretch. This will be Whitley's first start this season but Whitley is no stranger to the Yankees fans. Last season Whitley filled in and started 12 games for the injury riddled starting rotation.

Tonight sole possession of first place is on the line and Chase will need to do his part to keep the Tampa Bay Rays cooled off. The Rays were riding a 5 game win streak going into last night's loss to the Bombers.
