Carmen Maciariello is a very good, young head coach, who won’t be at Siena forever. Fordham isn’t the only school that will be knocking on Carm’s door moving forward, especially if continues to have the success he’s had in his first two seasons in Loudonville. Siena doesn’t enough money to keep coach Carm at Siena long-term, and that shouldn’t be the goal anyway. Siena is still a job that if you win, can get you to the next level. Fran McCaffery at Iowa is a perfect example of that. Fordham probably wasn’t the right move, but it forced Siena to quickly get a new contract extension on the table. One of these days it will be the right move, in the meantime Siena doesn’t have to search for a new head coach.

Jordan King entering the transfer portal makes no sense to me. Siena gave him his only chance to play Division One basketball, and ended up starting. King was a double-digit scorer who made third team all MAAC, and yet he still wants to leave. What are we missing? I hope the former CBA standout finds what he’s looking for, but he’s leaving a program that has won back to back MAAC regular season Championships, with a very bright future.  The MAAC Conference was perfect fit for King’, and he would have played a prominent role at Siena for at least two more years.

To hear what Coach Carm had to say about King entering the portal, make sure to listen above!
