The college basketball polls will have a new team atop the national polls next week after an upset in the Big Ten Conference. The top ranked Michigan State Spartans lost to the Iowa Hawkeyes 83-70 at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena  in the conference opener for both teams. Just last week the Spartans avoided an upset to Oakland but were able to come back and claim a victory in overtime. The Spartans have been playing without one of their key players in Denzel Valentine. Michigan State never led in the game against Iowa, which snapped its nine-game losing streak in the series. It was Iowa's first win over MSU since 2011, Fran McCaffery's first year as head coach in Iowa City. The conversation now turns to what college team could be the new number one on Monday. The AP Poll lists Kansas as the number two team in the nation while the coaches poll has the Oklahoma Sooners as the number two team. The Jayhawks along with the Maryland Terrapins and Virginia Cavaliers who rank 4th and 5th already have suffered losses this season.
