Gas prices are creeping down a bit, but the relief at the pump could be short-lived.

I guess the best way to put this is "enjoy $3 gas while it lasts." Which is already a crazy statement. Maybe like me, you can never get out of the gas station without spending less than $50. And our vehicles don't use too much gas - I can't imagine what gas bills are looking like for those driving bigger utility vehicles. We have actually seen some relief at the pump recently, but don't get used to it.

Gas Prices Could Skyrocket By Memorial Day Weekend 2022

According to a CNN report, Gas Buddy is predicting the average price for a gallon of gas could be near $4 by Memorial Day at a nationwide average of $3.79 per gallon. The report says that average could climb as high as $4 a gallon which just seems crazy. These rising prices are all part of an overall inflation problem in the United States that CNN calls the "...biggest price spikes in nearly 40 years."

There is a little light at the end of the tunnel, though it is far off. Gas Buddy says once we hit summer and beyond the national average should retreat below current levels at the end of 2022. So just like any year, you can expect sky-high gas prices heading into the busy Memorial Day travel weekend.

Great news right? That means that final total you pay at the gas pump could really make your eyes pop out of your head in the year ahead. So, for the time being, enjoy these "cheapest" $3 gas prices in the Capital Region at the stations below.
