Andrew Kew was a rookie with 27 points for the New England Black Wolves when the coronavirus pandemic shutdown the sports world. He was right in the running for Rookie of the Year in the National Lacrosse League and now finds himself with the Albany FireWolves ahead of their inaugural season as box lacrosse returns to the Capital Region. Kew is now living in Albany and running the junior programs for the FireWolves. Listen above for more details from George Manias, the President of the Albany FireWolves as well as to get to know Andrew Kew!

Kew is a household name in the National Lacrosse League but also in the PLL where he currently plays for the Boston Cannons along with former UAlbany Great Dane Lyle Thompson. The 25 year old is an Oakville, Ontario native who played lacrosse for the University of Tampa. Kew played 4 years with the Spartans where he set the all-time NCAA Division II goals record. He was also an All-American in 3 of his years there and even stayed at the university to coach which leads to the passion of mentoring young players that he chronicles above and his bringing to the Capital Region. The National Lacrosse League season does not start until December but Kew is already making his impact in the community which I think is awesome. He will be having other teammates stop by so this is a golden opportunity for young lacrosse players in the Capital Region to gain experience and advice from professionals. This is an opportunity one would not want to miss!
