Buffalo Bills Clinch a Playoff Spot: Will Play One of Two Teams
The Buffalo Bills have officially clinched a playoff spot.
The Tennessee Titans pulled off the upset and defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday afternoon, which clinched a postseason berth for both the Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers. It also clinched the AFC South title for the Houston Texans and eliminated the Jaguars from postseason contention.
We now know who the seven AFC playoff teams are, but don't yet know who will be the 2, 6 and 7 seeds.
If the Bills beat the Miami Dolphins tonight, they will host the Pittsburgh Steelers at Highmark Stadium next weekend. If the Bills lose against the Dolphins, they will be right back in Miami next weekend as the 7 seed.
The Dolphins are dealing with a laundry list of injuries. Jaelan Phillips, Bradley Chubb, Connor Williams and Xavien Howard will not play.
Tim Pelissero and Adam Schefter both reported on Sunday that it was unlikely Miami would have Raheem Mostert and Jaylen Waddle as well. We also will wait to see if Jevon Holland will play, who is questionable with a knee injury.
The Bills have no injuries, outside of the Matt Milano and Tre White season-ending injuries, which happened back in week 4 and 5.
Head coach Sean McDermott would much rather be at home in the wild card and have it guaranteed for two rounds if they should win the wild card, vs. having to be assured a road path to the Super Bowl with a loss.
Still, for fans, it's a nice weight to be lifted before tonight's game. The Bills are going to the playoffs for a fifth straight season.
