SNL Alum Leslie Jones Is Headed To New York’s Capital Region
Saturday Night Live is one of the great American television shows. Sure, it's certainly past its heyday, but it's persisted for decades as a staple of our culture.
It's developed so many stars, from Chevy Chase to Will Ferrell and beyond, and one alumni of the show is headed to the Capital Region for a brand new live show...
Who is Leslie Jones?
Jones started as a standup comedian in the late 1980s and kept working her way up the circuit for decades. In 2012, she met Chris Rock after one of her shows, and he helped her and an audition for SNL.
Jones aced the audition, and spent five years on the cast (2014-2019). She was the oldest new cast member in the show's history at that point, starting her SNL career at 47 years old. Once she graduated from Lorne Michael's program, she made a name for herself with more standup comedy and films from Ghostbusters (2016) and Coming 2 America (2021).
