Typically, we throw all this away, and it gets sent to a landfill to take up space. Wouldn't you feel better if you knew your garbage was actually doing something constructive?

Saratoga Community Compost
In the spring of 2025, Pitney Meadows Community Farm and Sustainable Saratoga launched their Community Compost Program, which takes your compostable garbage (food scraps, etc.) and turns it into soil, which will be used for gardens across the community.
Everyone is welcome to take part, no matter where you're from. It's not just limited to Saratoga Springs, if you're in Miami and had a way to bring it up, you're invited to take part!
How Do You Get Involved?
The program is taking in 150 community members during this cycle. You can register online HERE, and once selected, you'll have to go through a short training. This will teach you the basics of composting, and how this practice benefits our environment.
Once you've completed your training, begin collecting your food scraps, and bring them to Pitney Meadows Farm, where they'll be recycled into fresh soil for their community gardens. The program will run from April until November, and you'll have to pay an $80 fee to take part.
Caring for our planet is up to us, and every step we take to treat her better is a step forward into a brighter, greener tomorrow.
