Steven Spielberg may be the greatest American director in history. When you start your career with a film like Jaws, you kind of earn that title.

As he nears the closing chapters of his career, however, he's proving to us he's still got it, and his latest film will apparently feature Upstate New York like never before...

Disclosure Day

On the morning of December 16th, 2025, Spielberg surprise-dropped the trailer for his newest film: Disclosure Day. Not much is known, aside from the basic premise of "If you found out we weren't alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you?"

The trailer harkens back to the early days of Spielberg's career. It's uneasy, tense, and feels like at any moment everything could explode. It has a very similar feel to Close Encounters of the Third Kind, another early Spielberg flick that follows a deranged conspiracy theorist who looks to prove the existence of UFOs.

Casting Calls in the Hudson Valley

We know very little from the initial trailer (most likely by design), but we can be pretty certain that the film takes place primarily in Kansas City. That's why it seems so odd that multiple casting calls were sent out across the northeast, primarily in the Hudson Valley.

A casting call was sent in March of 2025, looking for extras in Catskill and Haines Falls for Non-View (the working title). They were looking for "hotel guests, diner patrons, and drivers...", but several other shoots in NYC and New Jersey have been looking for other extras. Are there sections of the area that just happen to look like Kansas City, or will Spielberg's latest bring stars Emily Blunt and Josh O'Connor to our neck of the woods? Only time will tell, and All Will Be Disclosed...
