With New Owner Nostalgic Playland Opens For 72nd Season
There aren't many childhood attractions that still exist in the Capital Region but there is one that has stood the test of time. It was moved from its original location but with the original rides, it will open for its 72nd year!
Growing up in the Capital Region, Hoffman's Playland on Route 9 in Latham was the most amazing amusement park. It catered to kids of all ages and was big enough to have the best day with the whole family.
Hoffman's Playland First Opened in 1952
The Hoffman family operated this amusement park in Latham from 1952 until 2014. After over 60 years, Ruth and Dave Hoffman announced that they would be retiring. Over 20,000 area residents joined a group committed to saving Hoffman's Playland. Finally, Huck Finn Warehouse wanted the Playland to live on and moved the entire park including the authentic rides to their property in Albany's Warehouse District. They opened in 2015.
Huck Finn's Playland Has A New Owner
At the end of the 2023 season, Joseph Masher acquired the Playland. Joseph owns Scene One Entertainment and is from Troy. He used to go to Hoffman's Playland as a kid and thinks it's cool that he gets to own the original rides according to the Huck Finn's Playland website. He is honored to carry out the legacy.
