Johnny Manziel says he wants to play football again and he wants to do it close to home. That means one thing: the XFL.

While appearing at a collectors show in Houston on Saturday, the former Heisman trophy-winning quarterback told reporters that city's soon-to-be XFL franchise is of interest to him. As is Dallas'. Both because of the proximity to College Station, where Manziel played college football at Texas A&M.

There is one more close connection at play here. Houston's XFL team will be coached by former NFL head coach June Jones. After two years away from professional football, Manziel played for Jones and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL. But, Manziel never played in a game for Jones. He was traded to Montreal where he played in eight games.

Now, 26 years old, Manziel is ready for another 'fresh' start and so the XFL, to be launched in 2020, might be the next stop in his winding road of a career.
