Jimmie Johnson joined a rare category on Sunday as he won the Folds Of Honor Quicktrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Johnson tied the late Dale Earnhardt with his 76th career win, ranking 7th all-time in NASCAR history.

"This is special for sure," said Johnson. "There was a big void in my mind not having a chance to race against him. I was literally a handful of months away from having the opportunity. To tie him today, for me personally, gives me a little bit of attachment to the great Dale Earnhardt."

Johnson, who looks to be a championship contender this year, could tie Earnhardt in championships as well with another title at the end of the season.

"It's such an honor," Johnson said. "I had to throw a 'three' out the window to pay respects to the man."

Johnson looks to add to the win column next week in the Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
