OK, I don't know if it's a full take down, but regardless, I've never seen an umpire in the middle of an altercation like this.

Yesterday afternoon, Matt Kemp was hit by a pitch in the first inning as the Padres took on the Braves in Atlanta. And he apparently didn't like it, throwing his bat down in frustration after the fact.

The benches cleared and nothing really became of it. But as Kemp is looking to go back into the middle of things, he is taken to the ground by the home plate umpire.

Usually, the umpires and players work to avoid contact.

Apparently the tensions from yesterday's game go back to earlier in the series.

The Padres won the game, 6-4, in extra innings. Kemp finished the game 1-4 while Braves pitcher Julio Teheran went seven innings and allowed three earned runs with seven strikeouts.

Nothing like a little matinee "brawl" to get your Thursday going.
