Monument Square in Troy Shutting Down on The Weekends All Summer Long
With the warmer weather here and to stay, it is time to get out and enjoy the area! Troy wants you to shop, dine outside, and enjoy all the community offers by shutting down Monument Square from Friday night through Sunday morning.
The City will close Broadway and 2nd Street in Monument Square each weekend. Broadway will be closed between 3rd Street and River Street, and 2nd Street will be closed between State Street and River Street. The street closures will be from 5 p.m. Friday through 8 a.m. Sunday.
There will be something for everyone, from grabbing a meal, having a drink, or doing some shopping. You can expect live jazz, pop-up activities, and other concerts. The complete list of events will be available within the next few weeks.
The City of Troy came up with the idea during the pandemic to allow restaurants to expand outdoor seating during the summer and provide room for family fun.
Businesses and restaurants outside the square will also offer outdoor seating and shopping in available spaces adjacent to their locations.
