More Construction in Halfmoon? Walmart Fulfillment Center Proposed
There is a proposal to build a fulfillment center onto the Walmart in Halfmoon. This would be a huge addition that would be added to the Halfmoon Walmart. But it needs approval first.
Why Does the Halfmoon Walmart Need a Fulfillment Center?
The engineering firm, Dewberry Engineers say that the fulfillment center will be an upgrade to the existing pick-up area at the Halfmoon Walmart. They say more customers are using the pick-up option for groceries therefore more space is needed. The new part would help to streamline the process and allow customers more convenience and efficiency according to the Albany Business Review.
What is Being Proposed?
The site plan that was being submitted to the Halfmoon town planning board is for a thirty-six thousand five hundred square foot addition which will be on the far left side of the Halfmoon Walmart where the outdoor pick-up area is.
Will the Proposal Get the Approval of the Halfmoon Town Planning Board?
It may not. The proposal would get rid of one hundred three parking spaces which would bring the number of parking spaces down to nine hundred. This wouldn't meet the Town of Halfmoon code. The minimum number of parking spaces with that size of an expansion would have to be at least one thousand two hundred and eleven.
The Halfmoon Town Planning Board will review the site plans.
A little-known fact, Halfmoon has a population of twenty-six thousand and is currently one of the fastest growing towns in all of New York state.
