Very honestly, I am not sold yet on New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson. Was I impressed with the New York Jets #2 selection in the 2021 draft last week? Yes I was. Am I sold that the Jets made a good decision, no, not yet. Am I happy that Zach did well last week and the Jets finally won a game? Yah, of course but it's one game. Should I list the New York Jets quarterbacks that won "a" game and never won many more? You don't want me to.

With all of that said, good things are starting to come for the baby faced QB from BYU. Zach Wilson was named NFL's Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week Award after he led Gang Green to a 27-24 overtime victory over the Titans. Wilson was 21 of 34 for 297 yards and 2 TDs.

According to Eric Allen of NFL.com "On his throws of 20+ yards last week, Wilson completed all four of his pass attempts for 165 yards and 1 TD, posting a perfect passer rating. Amongst the four were the longest pass of his career, a 54-yader connection to Keelan Cole, and the longest TD pass of his career, a 53-yard off-script strike to Corey Davis. He became only the fourth player in the league with two 50+ yard completions in the same game this season and the first Jets QB to do so since 2014."

Jets fans should be happy that Wilson is beginning to show glimpses of that brash playing style that led to his selection in the #2 spot and a plane ticket for Sam Darnold to Carolina. However, it is easier to play that way when you are in games and not getting blown out. I think Jets rookie head coach Robert Saleh has a road map for his young student and it seems like his pupil is buying in.

In Eric Allen's article, the QB was asked what he thought of the victory, "I wouldn't say we fully arrived," Wilson told reporters. "I would definitely say that this is just another puzzle piece to where we're trying to get. We've got to stack blocks. We've got to just keep getting better. We can't make the same mistakes twice." Well done. Jets fans not sold but should like what you see much more than you have to this point.
