New York State Driver License Changes, Want to See What They Look Like?
I like my New York State drivers license. Not thrilled with my picture but the rest of it is cool. The American flag, the Statue of Liberty and all the secret stuff you can't see. I even have the license that allows me to travel to a border country with ease. Or so I am told. Now they are making changes!
The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, announced a new driver license, permit and non-driver ID cards that are even more secure than the one you currently have.
Starting today, when it's time for you to get a new license or to renew your current license, you will receive the latest and greatest! One of the enhanced features is that the new license helps verify if it is legit and prevents tampering or counterfeiting.
At the DMV, we pride ourselves on providing secure identity documents to millions of New Yorkers and we introduce enhanced features every few years to stay at the cutting edge of emerging trends,” said DMV Commissioner Mark J.F. Schroeder. “We are confident in the security features on our current ID documents, however, the new security features on our redesigned documents will keep us one step ahead of potential counterfieters.”
Have you ever felt a piece of paper that has been notarized? The latest New York State driver license will feature some text and images that are embossed so you can feel them. The Enhanced Driver License has an embedded chip that you can now see.
It has been nearly 10 years since the New York driver license design had changed.
