Yesterday was a big day for Buffalo Sabre fans along with one Buffalo Sabre player.

Yesterday, the Buffalo Sabres' 1st overall draft pick from the 2021 NHL draft hit the ice for the first time with the team wearing a Buffalo Sabres uniform.

Defenseman Owen Power skated with the Sabres for the first time since he was selected number one overall in the 2021 NHL draft. He opted to return to college this year and his college career ended last weekend when the University of Michigan men's hockey team was eliminated from the NCA A tournament.

Power donned the #25 sweater last night as the Sabres beat their rival the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-21 on the road.

After the game was over, the Buffalo Sabres coaches and players hand out a sword to the player of the game, and in honor of his hard work in his NFL debut, Owen took home the ceremonial sabre.

Buffalo Sabres fans won't have to wait long to see Power on his home ice as the Sabres return to KeyBank Center on Thursday to play host to the St. Louis Blues.

The Sabres are also at home on Saturday as they play host to Philly before hitting to the road on Sunday to take on the Flyers in Philly.

While the Sabres are officially eliminated from the NHL playoffs, it is still nice to have excitement surrounding the team. There are loads of young talented players on the team and hopefully, the Sabres can end their 11-year playoff drought next season.
