Nike Pulls ‘Betsy Ross Flag’ Sneakers After Kaepernick Complaint

According to Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal Nike has decided to pull a sneaker featuring the "Betsy Ross Flag" after former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick told the company he found the image of the flag offensive. The Nike Air Max 1's with the flag of the original 13 colonies is now offensive.

According to The Wall Street Journal;

Nike will not put out its Fourth of July flag-themed shoes after speaking with Colin Kaepernick, who sees the 13-star flag as an "offensive symbol because of its connection to an era of slavery."

According to the Bloomberg article:

“Nike has chosen not to release the Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July as it featured an old version of the American flag,” said Mark Rhodes, a spokesman for the company, in an email Monday. A representative for Nike wasn’t immediately available to comment outside of business hours on Tuesday.

So if I wanted to wear sneakers symbolizing the flag for the original 13 colonies that fought for and gained our independence I'm racist or offensive? This has seriously gone way too far. I never liked the kneeling for the anthem and now a company that profits from the 'American way' pulls a sneaker because Kaepernick doesn't like it?
