Study Names New York Among Best States in This Election Day Category
Election Day 2024 is less than one month away. Are you registered to vote in the state of New York?
The act of voting can be described in a number of ways; it's a right, a privilege and a responsibility for American citizens to cast their ballots in local, state and federal elections.
On the heels of Election Day 2024, the experts at WalletHub did some research on the electorates in New York, and across the country. Their research studied voter turnout, or the idea that only a certain percentage of each state's population actually votes on Election Day.
Because of this, voting results from each state may not accurately reflect how the entire population feels about what's on the ballot. With that concept in-mind, they worked to estimate how accurately each state's voters will represent the feelings of the total populations on Election Day this year.

In WalletHub's study on voter representation, they estimated that New York will be the second-best represented state on Election Day 2024. New York earned 94.1 points out of a possible 100 in WalletHub's Voter Representative Index.

The study provided data on three modes of comparison: race, gender and age. This is how accurately each of those demographics will be represented in this year's electorate in New York, as estimated by WalletHub:
- Racial Representation: 88.8 out of 100 (13th)
- Age Representation: 94.5 out of 100 (4th)
- Gender Representation: 97.9 out of 100 (21st)
As mentioned above, New York was ranked second overall in this study. The only state whose population will be more accurately represented by the voting electorate, as estimated by WalletHub, is New Jersey.
Rankings for other Northeast states include: Rhode Island (6th), Pennsylvania (7th), Connecticut (11th), Maine (17th), New Hampshire (45th), Vermont (46th) and Massachusetts (49th).
