We got a stunner for breaking news on Tuesday morning when New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh was fired during the middle of the season.  I like the move and it was the correct one but the timing was what shocked me and everyone.  The Jets are a disaster internally with all of these stories coming out about total dysfunction and I am sure more stories will come out here soon.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:

New York Jets owner Woody Johnson made the absolute right decision in firing head coach Robert Saleh. Johnson should have fired Saleh after going 7-10 last season. Saleh might be a good defensive coordinator, but he’s never impressed me as a head coach and Johnson fired him after five games and we will see if it makes a difference. The Jets should not be 2-3 not with the roster they have this season and that’s why you make a change. I don’t believe Johnson consulted quarterback Aaron Rodger’s before he fired Saleh, and that’s the way it should be. Rodger’s needs to play better and despite all the turmoil a win Monday night over the Bills and the Jets would be in first place in the AFC-East.

The interim head coach is Jeff Ulbrich who is the Jets defensive coordinator.  Next up for the Jets are the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.  If the Jets win, than they will be in first place of the AFC East at 3-3 overall.
