‘Really Good Stuff': High Praise to Capital Region Pizzeria from Barstool Sports

On his seventh pizza review in the Capital Region in 2023, a new high score has been reached.

With Portnoy spending time in his new home in Saratoga Springs during the summer, he and the Barstool staff have been visiting local area pizza places, sampling slices as part of their One Bite Pizza Review series.

After a string of reviews in Schenectady, Portnoy stayed in the area to sample the pie at Marisa's Place in Guilderland. Not only did his review of the pizza go well for Marisa's, but his bonus review of the pasta fagioli also led to high marks.

Barstool Sports Rates Pizza, Pasta Fagioli at Marisa's Place in Guilderland

After the pizza review at 151 Bar and Restaurant in Schenectady had not gone according to plan, the Capital Region's pizza reputation was rehabbed during Dave Portnoy's visit to Marisa's Place in Guilderland. The Barstool Sports founder sampled pizza and soup outside the New Karner Road location, and was not disappointed by either.

Here were a few of the highlights from the video:

• Before the review itself, Portnoy remarked that there must be something in the water around here, because the characters keep coming out of the trees.
• His original glance at the pizza led to a comment that it looked very good.
• He did also state that the pizza was very cheesy, and may have had too much cheese.
• His overall stance was that it had a good crisp, good taste, and that it was about as good of a pizza as you can make with the oven used by Marisa's.
• This was also the second bonus pasta fagioli review done by Dave Portnoy, as the first was done in New Jersey, and received an 8.6. Portnoy did not remember this review, and because of this, stated that he had nothing to base his review off of.

Dave Portnoy has rated the pizza at Marisa's Place a 7.9 out of 10. Through seven pizza reviews in the Capital Region in 2023, that is the highest score that has been given. In addition, Portnoy has rated the pasta fagioli at Marisa's an 8.3 out of 10.
