It had been rumored that Bobby Valentine was the frontrunner for the Red Sox manager position and yesterday those rumors were proven true when Boston introduced him as the organizations 45h manager. It's nice to see when good things happen to good people.  Bobby Valentine is one of the most likeable people in sports and got a raw deal when he was fired as Mets skipper in 2002.  Now he gets another shot as a big league manager at the age of 61.  Sox GM Ben Cherington had nothing but kind words to say about Valentine at yesterdays introduction:

I'm very confident we've found the right person in Bobby Valentine.

-Ben Cherington

During the press conference Valentine said that he understands the rich sports tradition that a City like Boston has and he hopes he can add to that.  He also said that he was very honored and humbled to be chosen.  His coaching staff has still yet to be determined, but after the teams 2011 collapse, big changes are expected.
