Water Emergency Declared for Latham District; Town of Colonie Responds

A story from CBS 6 and other local news outlets shared an unfortunate update from the Latham, New York area, as a pumping station failure at the Mohawk View Water Treatment Plant has led to a water emergency being declared for those who live in, and around, the Town of Colonie.

The Colonie Police Department shared this update for local area residents, via their official Facebook page:

The detailed procedures of the water emergency are very interesting, and somewhat concerning.

Area residents are being urged to boil all water before drinking it, at least in the immediate future. If you are using water for other purposes than drinking, you are also encouraged to reduce your water usage for now.

The Latham Water Department superintendent stated that the failure is keeping department staff from adequately delivering water to various distribution systems, and as of now, there is no set timetable for a return to normalcy.

Hopefully, this issue will be resolved soon, as warm weather continues to hit the Capital Region.
