Ryan Newman Released from Hospital Two Days After Wreck
Two days after one of the more spectacular and scary wrecks in Daytona 500 history, Ryan Newman has been released from the hospital.
Roush Fenway Racing tweeted the good news on Wednesday afternoon. Newman crashed on the final lap Monday evening at Daytona and crossed the finish line on the hood of his number 6 car.
Newman's teammate, Ryan Blaney, attempted to nudge Newman towards the finish line and past Denny Hamlin when the 42-year old was turned sideways traveling up the track and into the wall. What happened next though is what left the NASCAR crowd silent.
With Newman's car pointed perpendicular to the track, Corey Lajoie slammed into him at full speed sending Newman airborne with sparks raining down onto the track.
By Tuesday evening, reports surfaced that Newman was awake and talking while being treated at Halifax Medical Center and fewer than 24 hours later, he has been released.
