If things weren't already bad enough for Rex Ryan and Gang Green, the Jets officially announced this afternoon that star wide receiver Santonio Holmes will miss the rest of the season with a Lisfranc injury to his left foot.

Holmes, who will require surgery, injured his foot on a bizarre non-contact play in Sunday's loss to the 49ers when he pivoted awkwardly and then seemed to simply toss the ball to the opposition as went down. The Jets did not disclose specifics about the injury but did officially place the former Super Bowl MVP on injured reserve to make room for newly signed wide receiver Jason Hill.

Hill, a sixth year veteran out of Washington State, had 25 catches for 367 yards in ten games last season as a member of the Jaguars. When asked by reporters, Rex Ryan dismissed the idea of resigning Plaxico Burress, saying that the team was looking into younger options.
