Buckle your seatbelts Saratoga - the Phantoms are coming!

Well, actually - it's the Adirondack Phantoms.  The AHL club will play a preseason game in Saratoga Springs later this month.

The game will take place at Weibel Arena on Wednesday, September 28th at 7:00pm. The Phantoms will take on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in this preseason opener hosted by Saratoga Youth Hockey.

Proceeds from the game will go to benefit Saratoga Youth Hockey as the Phantoms help the dedicated kids, parents and coaches of the Saratoga region in continuing to build their always growing organization that teaches youths about teamwork and having fun.

"We are thrilled to have the Phantoms come to the Weibel Arena for this game," said Saratoga Youth Hockey President Bruce Thompson. "Our dedicated volunteers as well as the city staff work hard to make this a great skating and hockey facility for everyone and it is incredibly flattering that the Phantoms want to assist in our efforts by bringing big-time AHL hockey directly to our building and our supporters."

Taking the excitement of the AHL directly to Saratoga Springs is the team's way of thanking all the great fans of the region for their consistent support of the Phantoms.

"This game in Saratoga Springs allows us to expand our reach in a market that is hugely important to us. It's a great way for us to kick off the 2011-12 season," said Phantoms Executive Vice President Chris Porreca. "The community will get to enjoy some terrific AHL hockey and family entertainment at their very own rink and in their own community and we are proud to team up with Saratoga Youth Hockey for this great event."

The Weibel Arena is located on Weibel Avenue in Saratoga Springs, NY. It is the home to the Skidmore College Thoroughbreds hockey team, the Saratoga High School hockey team as well as Saratoga Youth Hockey.
