You have to hit up places like Facebook Garage Sale and Craigslist for these really unique, one-of-a-kind Capital Region treasures like this 1981 All About Schenectady Board Game.

The year was 1981.  Gas prices were $1.30, a man's knit suit was $80, "Raiders of the Lost Ark" was new in theatres, a 19" color TV was $400, kids played with Monchichi Dolls, and the Skedoodle.  But when it was time to have "family time" there was no greater thing to do than gather around the table and play the board game that lit up the Electric City: All About Schenectady.

If you spend any amount of time on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, you're sure to stumble across a variety of things that are super useful and quite affordable. Occasionally, I'll peruse these sites just to see what's out there and I actually get a kick out of some of the stuff that people sell.

Back in 1981, the Schenectady Chamber of Commerce sold a 'limited edition' Monopoly-style board game.  Instead of trying to acquire properties to build houses and hotels on, the object of "All About Schenectady" was to navigate your way around town completing a hilarious shopping list consisting of neighborhood places.

The person offering it on Craigslist was selling it about a year ago for $50 and it's said to be in "very good condition."  Let's take a look at "All About Schenectady" the board game!

Let's take a stroll around the game board that electrified the Electric City back in 1981: All About Schenectady
