The Siena College Women's Basketball team is the latest in a very long list of Capital Region teams forced to pause their activities thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Siena has placed the team on pause after a "Tier 1" member of the program has tested positive for COVID-19.

Tier 1 consists of coaches, student-athletes, team managers, and staff. This news comes less than a week after the Siena Men's Basketball team was put on pause over a Tier 1 member of their program tested positive. So this week we've lost RPI and Union Hockey for the year and with the addition of the Siena women, all basketball at UAlbany and Siena is paused. Things need to turn around soon or we could be right back where we were in the Spring.

Siena sent out a press release explaining the steps it's taking:

The top priority of Siena College throughout this pandemic has been the health and safety of the entire campus community. In accordance with public health protocols, the Department of Health has been notified. In accordance with New York State guidelines and Siena College protocols, any individuals testing positive are isolated and close contacts to those individuals are quarantined. The Department of Health initiates all contact tracing and will work in cooperation with Siena College, after interviewing the positive individuals, to determine close contacts.
