Will The UAlbany Women Beat Siena For The Albany Cup?
This UAlbany women's basketball is legit and are the real deal. They are a perfect 7-0 and take on their bitter Capital Region rival Siena on Saturday afternoon at the UHY Center on the campus of Siena College in Loudonville. Siena is beat up and injured under head coach Terry Primm while on the flip side Colleen Mullen and her group are fully and completely healthy. Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:
Cambridge High School graduate Lilly Phillips is one of UAlbany's best defensive players but is also capable of scoring at a high level after dropping 24 points in Sunday's win over Stonehill. Phillips is a very unselfish player who never concerns herself with how many points she scores because Phillips's is more concerned with how many assists she has in game. Phillips lets the game come to her and it's great watching her have so much success in her final season. If undefeated UAlbany makes a big postseason run this season it will because of Philips and her ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor.
It should be a very good and competitive game but I do really like UAlbany's chances. Kayla Cooper is a tremendous player and she will eventually take over the game. The atmosphere will be great and rocking and I encourage any of our dedicated Capital Region basketball fans to go watch this game because you wont be disappointed. Remember to tune in for our interviews with both coaches, Terry Primm Tuesdays at 11 am and Colleen Mullen Thursdays at 12 noon right here on 104.5 The Team ESPN Radio.
