MLB Free Agency is here, and with all of the decisions the NY Yankees have to make, we're here to make a few for them. These players are staying, or leaving.

At 5pm on Thursday, Major League Baseball teams will have an open opportunity to sign the predominant favorite to win the 2022 American League MVP, Aaron Judge. New York Yankees fans will sit on pins and needles, as organizations begin to make their offers to the larger than life #99. Early reports out of the general managers' meetings in Las Vegas were that "league personnel" believe Judge will return to the Bronx. However, there are a few teams ready to complicate that transaction and have the cash to do it.

George Steinbrenner bought the New York Yankees in 1973. Four years later, the Bronx Bombers won their first World Series championship in 15 years. Steinbrenner proceeded to lead his organization to seven rings prior to his death in 2010. The team has not won a World Championship since. What would "The Boss" do following a season like 2022?

Getting swept in the American League Championship Series by the Houston Astros was many Yankees fans worst nightmare. The magical season that started so well, always had that hint of doubt based on their midseason match-ups, especially the two game sweep by the Astros following the All Star break. Now, how do the New York Yankees move forward? Pinstripes' owner Hal Steinbrenner has a lot to think about.

Friday night may have been the most important game of the 2022 regular season for the New York Mets, actually I think it is Saturday but we'll get to that later. Manager Buck Showalter re-arranged the pitching rotation to start Jacob deGrom in Game 1 in Atlanta, much like you will expect to see in the upcoming playoffs against whomever the Mets face, in whatever series they are in. However, there was much more on the line for deGrom and Mets owner Steve Cohen.

Since the turn of the century, there have been some constants in New York sports. The Yankees are most likely to be pretty good and make the playoffs. The Giants will win a Super Bowl every decade or so. The Mets are bad, ok, good and then will collapse and now seem really good. The Jets are terrible and yes, they won on Sunday but have a long way to go before that classification is lifted. I will provide Robert Saleh a receipt for that statement for his files.

Aaron Judge is about to steal all of the headlines down the stretch of the MLB regular season. Judge has 48 home runs and is on pace to hit a record 63.

Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman has to be second guessing himself when it comes to trading away Jordan Montgomery.

In the last week of August, as Major League Baseball teams prepare for the stretch run to the playoffs, managers begin to set their pitching rotations, bullpen roles and line-ups to get ready for the most crucial part of the season. Not that those responsibilities can't change in September but as a big league manager once said about the final month, "either you have the horses or you don't. There are no new ones in the barn."

The New York Yankees won 9-4 on Monday night over the Seattle Mariners, something the Pinstripes had not done in six days. Pitcher Jameson Taillon kept Seattle in check for most of the night. At the same time, the Bronx Bombers bats were pounding out 13 hits. However, the celebrated mid-August game came with a huge loss.

On Tuesday, left-handed pitcher Jordan Montgomery was traded by the New York Yankees to the St. Louis Cardinals. The Pinstripes organization is the only baseball family that the 29 year-old ever knew. In return for Montgomery, general manager Brian Cashman acquired the Gold Glove centerfielder that he desired for his playoff run, Harrison Bader. In a strange turn of events, the 28 year-old Bader is coming home to his family in New York, which happens to be a group of Yankees fans.

General manager Brian Cashman addressed most every team need leading up to this week's trade deadline. Cashman was wheeling and dealing in order to solidify the Bronx Bombers roster with an eye to win a World Series for the first time in a dozen years. However, when trades happen, real people and real lives are effected. Friends that are like family are torn apart. Former Yankees left-handed pitcher Jordan Montgomery is living this disturbing circumstance first hand, as he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday for outfielder Harrison Bader.
