As we launch into the enjoyment of the Holiday Season, many of us will be meeting friends or attending functions at bars and/or clubs. Though these establishments can be focal points for fun and laughter, they can also be target locations for sexual predators. With a very forward-thinking partnership two local counties want to help put a stop to any potential problems. Albany and Schenectady have teamed up to help make "Safer Bars" and they are empowering bar owners and staff to make a difference.
It was just announced that Schenectady County would finally get a new grocery store in a much-needed part of the county. However, we just learned that another grocery store of its kind will be closing for good.
Can which New York county you live in determine your life expectancy? Well, it can be a factor. In a cool report compiled by the Princeton, New Jersey based Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Health Population Institute, they ranked all 62 counties in New York State in order of the healthiest to the not so healthy. The annual rankings compile data from the past several years from multiple sources, such as the National Center for Health Statistics.
