UAlbany head men’s basketball coach Will Brown announced today that Logan Aronhalt, Blake Metcalf and Luke Devlin have been named co-captains for the 2011-12 season. Aronhalt and Metcalf are serving in a leadership capacity for the second consecutive year. Devlin is the fifth sophomore to be selected during the UAlbany program’s Division I history.

Aronhalt, a 6-foot-3 junior from Zanesville, Ohio, ranked fifth among the America East Conference scoring leaders at 14.6 points per game last year. He netted 20 or more points on six occasions, including a career-high 30 against Niagara. Aronhalt was voted to the all-conference third team. He was a member of the league’s all-academic team and earned a spot on the Capital One District I Academic All-America Team.

Metcalf, who hails from Camby, Ind., has made 64 career appearances in his two-year college career. At 6-foot-9 and 240 pounds, Metcalf was 15th among the America East rebounding leaders at 4.8 per game, plus scored at a 4.0 clip. He shot 53.4 percent from the field. He scored a career-high 12 points against Maine in the regular-season finale. He grabbed six or more rebounds 13 times.

Devlin, a 6-foot-8 forward from Sydney, Australia, was one of the top freshmen in the conference last year as he was selected to the 2011 America East All-Rookie Team. He was named conference rookie of the week on five occasions. Devlin ranked sixth in the league in rebounding (6.9 pg) and had a 7.4 scoring average. He recorded seven double-doubles, including an 11-point, 12-rebound effort vs. Stony Brook in the America East tournament quarterfinals.
