How Important Was Last Night’s Win For UAlbany And Coach DK?
Wednesday night was a much needed win for the UAlbany men's basketball team. They defeated the Long Island Sharks 76-59 and ended the game on a 31-16 run. It has been a rough start for the team overall as most of their games have been played on the road. They currently sit at 4-8 overall. Next up is a road trip to Chicago to take on Loyola-Chicago on Sunday and Northern Illinois on Tuesday. The non conference schedule doesn't get any easier until the America East conference play begins vs New Hampshire on New Years Eve.
Last night, I saw a UAlbany team play an excellent game especially in the second half. They were able to pull away after switching to a full court press and created several turnovers. Their good and aggressive defense was rewarded by good offense and quality possessions. The Great Danes had four in double figures and did not have any major scoring droughts, which had been a problem prior to Wednesday night.
Gerald Drumgoole Jr has been the primary scorer, however freshman Jonathan Beagle, Malik Edmead and Aaron Reddish, among others have really been contributing recently. Head coach Dwayne Killings likes this group and knows they will continue to grow. He joined MJ and I earlier this afternoon as part of our local college basketball extravaganza right here on Big Board Sports. Below is our full interview with him.
I will be #rodgontheroad this weekend with the UAlbany men's basketball team in Chicago where they will have two very tough games coming up. But Coach DK has his guys always ready to play no matter the opponent.
