The Union College baseball team is off to a scorching start in 2016. The Dutchmen are 12-4 overall and are 7-1 in Liberty League play. One of the main reasons why? Star Jake Fishman.

Fishman is an unbelievable dual-threat player for Paul Mound's team. At the plate? He's hitting .458 to lead the team. On the mound? He's 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 19 innings.

All this comes on the heels of two great seasons prior at Union. Last year, he was named First-Team ECAC Upstate DH and was Second-Team D3Baseball.com All-New York Region. He finished fourth in the country in hitting last year at .477 and led the Liberty League in ERA at 1.48.

He also won ECAC DIII Upstate Rookie of the Year in 2014 and helped lead Union to the NCAA Tournament.

He also has an opportunity to be named to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List, which is the award handed to the nation's best collegiate player.
