Union Hockey Wins Friendship Four in Ireland
In a tournament format, Union faced a rare type of drama Friday night during the Friendship Four in Belfast, Ireland. After regulation and overtime, the Dutchmen had played to a draw with Yale. Or at least that would be the result in a traditional regular season game. Instead, the two teams went to a shootout and Jack Adams, who scored the lone Union goal in regulation, scored the game-deciding goal.
It was onto the championship game Saturday against Boston University and once again, Rick Bennett and company came away victorious. The 12th ranked Dutchmen bring back some serious momentum with them now as ECAC play rapidly approaches. After a weekend off, Union will host Brown and Yale.
Darion Hanson was outstanding in goal on the Ireland trip and he has shown real flashes this season of being a backbone of a winning hockey team.
